About Wright Hand Studio Pottery Classes
WRIGHT HAND STUDIO is a fully equipped clay studio located in Hagerstown, Maryland. Steve Wright teaches five classes weekly, teaching both Wheel and Handbuilding Techniques. The studio is Steve Wright’s personal studio where he produces his own work. There he provides a clean, fun, community environment where students can learn and explore the endless possibilities of working with clay.
The studio offers over 1,200 square feet of working space. Equipment includes eight electric potters wheels, slab roller, clay extruder and two electric kilns. Students can choose from different clay bodies and can experiment with a large selection of beautiful glazes. All clay and glazes are oven-safe, lead-free and suitable for functional use.
For those of you interested in the studio please stop by for a visit. Some classes can full up quickly, so if you would like to sign up, please contact me about availability. I like to cap the classes at 8 students.
Adult classes are offered Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings 5:30-9:00 and Tuesday and Wednesday days from 10:00-1:30. The cost for the seven-week adult session is $240.00. Cost includes one 25-pound bag of clay and glazing and firing cost. Also, regular Open Studio times will be offered.

2024 Class Offerings
January / February Session
Begins the week of January 8th and ends the week of February 19th.
March / April Session
Begins the week of March 4th and ends the week of April 15th.
April / June Session
Begins the week of April 29th and ends the week of June 3rd.
June / July Session
Begins the week of June 17th and ends the week of July 29th.
August / September Session
Begins the week of August 12th and ends the week of September 23rd.
October / December
Begins the week of October 7th and ends the week of December 2nd. (No classes Thanksgiving week)
Children’s Pottery Classes
5 Weeks, Ages 7-13
Dates: July 1st — Oct. 7th, 14th 21st, 28th, & Nov. 4th, 2023
Time: Saturdays, 9:30-11:30 a.m.
Cost: $250
(includes tools, supplies, and clay)
Young potters will unleash their creativity by exploring the three main hand-building techniques of ceramics. They will utilize a wide range of tools to construct 3 or more exciting projects that focus on form and function. Valuable art vocabulary will be gained through peer discussion, idea sharing, and literature connections. Andrea Sommers, Maryland certified elementary school teacher, will be facilitating these interactive classes at Wright Hand Studio. Six seats available!
