About Wright Hand Studio Pottery Classes

WRIGHT HAND STUDIO is a fully equipped clay studio located in Hagerstown, Maryland. Steve Wright teaches five classes weekly, teaching both Wheel and Handbuilding Techniques. The studio is Steve Wright’s personal studio where he produces his own work. There he provides a clean, fun, community environment where students can learn and explore the endless possibilities of working with clay.

The studio offers over 1,200 square feet of working space. Equipment includes eight electric potter’s wheels, slab roller, clay extruder and three electric kilns. Students can choose from different clay bodies and can experiment with a large selection of beautiful glazes. All clay and glazes are oven-safe, lead-free and suitable for functional use.

Adult classes are offered Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings from 5:30-8:30 and Tuesday and Wednesday days from 10:00-1:00. The cost for the six-week adult session is $250.00. Cost includes one 25-pound bag of clay and glazing and firing cost. Open Studio time is available most Saturdays.

New Students: Classes fill up fast, with priority given to returning students. Join our waitlist to be notified as soon as openings become available. We welcome you to stop by the studio anytime to explore our facilities and see what we have to offer.

STUDIO POLICIES

Missed Class Makeup Policy
Students should plan to attend all classes they have registered for. Makeups aren’t guaranteed but Steve will make every reasonable attempt to accommodate a missed class by arranging for student to attend another class if space is available. Saturday Open Studio time can also be used for makeups. There is a $15.00 charge for each makeup.

Inclement Weather Policy
In the event of inclement weather, Steve will assess the conditions to decide whether the studio will remain open or closed. If closures occur, makeup sessions will be scheduled as needed.

Please Note
Wright Hand Studio is a teaching studio and not for production work. The development of personal style is encouraged. Steve reserves the right to decide if any pieces are poorly constructed or designed in a way that could damage other students work during firing.

Class Refund Policy
A 50% refund minus a $20.00 processing fee will be refunded to a student within the first week of the session with a valid reason.

October / November Session

Begins the week of 10/27, ends the week of 12/8. (No classes Thanksgiving week.)
